What Ticker Does

Ticker is a macOS menu bar application that displays your upcoming calendar events and provides one-click meeting join functionality. It connects to Google Calendar and optionally Apple Calendar to fetch your events.

Data We Access

• Google Calendar and Google Tasks: Event titles, times, attendees, meeting URLs, calendar metadata, and your task lists. Accessed via the Google Calendar and Google Tasks scopes with your explicit OAuth consent. Ticker also writes to Google when you tell it to: events you create, edit or delete, RSVPs you send, and tasks you mark complete.
• Google account email: Used with your verified Google subject to identify purchase ownership, and your trial once you sign in. Calendar connections remain separate.
• Apple Calendar events: Event data from your local Apple Calendar, accessed via the EventKit framework with your macOS permission.

Ticker's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Calendar contents stay on your device. OAuth credentials and verified access records are stored in macOS Keychain. Calendar caches and preferences are local to the app. We do not operate any servers that receive, store, or process your calendar data.

How We Protect Your Data

• Encrypted in transit: Every request to Google and to our billing backend uses HTTPS (TLS). The app refuses to talk to a backend address that is not HTTPS.
• Encrypted at rest on your Mac: Google OAuth tokens, the install ID and the signing key are kept in your macOS login Keychain, which encrypts them with your Mac login password. Ticker does not sync them to iCloud.
• Authenticated requests: When you are signed in, requests about your account carry a Google-issued ID token that the backend verifies. Before you sign in, trial requests are signed with a key stored in your Mac's Keychain.
• Minimal server data: Calendar and task content never reaches our servers. Our backend holds only account, trial and purchase records, stored with Convex, which encrypts data at rest and in transit.
• Payment details: Card details are entered on Dodo Payments' checkout and never reach Ticker or our backend.
• Limited access: Only the developer can access the backend and payment dashboards. No person reads your Google data, and it is not used to train AI models.
• You stay in control: Signing out or disconnecting a calendar deletes its tokens from the Keychain. You can also revoke Ticker at any time from your Google Account's third-party access page.

What We Do Not Do

• Calendar contents and calendar refresh tokens are not sent to our billing backend
• We do not sell, share, or monetize your data
• The app contains no analytics or tracking product. The only device information it sends is the install ID, its public key and the app version described under Identity and purchases
• We do not display advertising
• We do not access your calendar data beyond what is displayed in the app

This Website

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and downloads. It records page views, download and buy clicks, and coarse device and location data. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it runs without cookies, so nothing is stored in your browser. Elsewhere it sets Google Analytics cookies. Advertising signals are switched off everywhere. The app does not use it. You can block it in your browser or with any tracker blocker, and the site still works.

Third-Party Services

• Google: Sign-in, the Calendar and Tasks APIs used to fetch your events and tasks, and Google Analytics 4 on this website. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Convex: Hosts our backend in the United States and stores your account and purchase records. No calendar or task content is sent there. Subject to Convex's Privacy Policy.
• Dodo Payments: Our merchant of record. Handles checkout, payment details, taxes, and invoices. Subject to Dodo Payments' Privacy Policy.

Identity and purchases

Google provides sign-in. Convex stores your identity, trial start, purchase status, and billing identifiers. Dodo Payments handles checkout, payment details, taxes, and billing. We keep trial and purchase records so reinstalling or reconnecting a calendar does not reset access.

Ticker creates a random install ID and a signing key on your Mac and keeps both in the macOS Keychain. Neither is derived from your hardware. When you connect a calendar, and with later access checks, Ticker sends the install ID, the key’s public half and the app version. Each request is signed with the key, so only your Mac can use its trial. Before you have an account, Convex stores these with your trial start and the first and last time we saw them; nothing else identifies you. When you sign in with Google, the trial and the install record move to your account. We use this to allow one free trial per Mac, to count how many Macs an account runs on, and to see which versions are in use. It is deleted when your account is deleted, or on request if you never made one.

Disconnect calendars or sign out in Ticker settings. To request deletion of personal data, contact the address below. We will explain any billing or trial records that must remain before completing the request.

How Long We Keep It

Account and purchase records are kept while your account exists. Email us to delete your account and we will remove them within 30 days. Billing event logs, which can include payment and subscription identifiers, are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted. Dodo Payments keeps its own payment records for as long as the law requires, so a deletion request does not erase an invoice.

Your Rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email the address below and we will answer. We may need to confirm you own the Google account the records belong to.
